FARM SCHOOL

At South Brockwells Farm we provide a distinctive farm-based learning opportunity for children, young people, families and community groups across Sussex which includes:

Farm School - 1:1 and small group Alternative Provision

East Sussex County Council (ESCC) Approved Alternative provision for children and young people from 7-16yo. (KS2/3/4). Schools and professional agencies can refer children to work with us to support their education and wellbeing.

The education programmes are managed by Caroline Tasker, a former Deputy Head of a large secondary school and fully qualified teacher along with a team of Educational Activity Leaders. We ensure our students get the opportunity to work with and care for our farm animals, work on and learn about the land to understand where food comes from, and the role farming has on our lives.

Mini Farmers Holiday Club

Taking place from 10am-2pm on select days during school holidays, children become mini farmers for the day getting involved in looking after the goats, sheep, horses, chicks and ducks to name but a few!

Our Mini Farmers club runs during the following school holiday periods:

VISION AND ETHOS

Our vision is to give every child the opportunity to thrive in our farm-based learning environment where children are safe to explore, be with animals and nature and develop new skills.

  • We want to engage and inspire our future generation and show them the role farming has in our everyday lives.

  • We want to equip and teach children, so they have the knowledge to form opinions and make informed decisions on things like food production, farming and the environment.

  • We believe that one size does not fit all and offering a child an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom will help develop, reset and broaden their prospects.
